“Fielding’s spirit of volunteerism was well known,” said Kelly Price, President and CEO of ECU. “As a member of ECU’s board of directors for over 20 years, his leadership and volunteer service have been essential to the growth and transformation of the credit union. He shared that same leadership and vision with many other organizations, including the Rotary Club of Kingsport Foundation, which he led to provide financial support to local community projects. The ECU Board of Directors was eager to support this memorial donation in honor of Fielding.

Rolston’s vision for the foundation was to provide funding and support to local organizations in need. The ECU statement says the Rotary Club of Kingsport is “well known for its global and national projects.” He also said the foundation has helped the Rotary Club of Kingsport support projects such as the Kingsport Town Schools’ Homeless Education Program clothes closet, the day hut at Bays Mountain Park, construction of a picnic shelter in Borden Park, a new playground at Kennedy Elementary School, Kingsport’s Miracle Field for children with disabilities and Isaiah 1:17 House in Sullivan County for family children welcome to Kingsport.

“Anyone who has had the opportunity to work with Fielding knew they care deeply about our region,” Price said. “It was evident in the way he served.”

Rolston worked for Eastman Chemical Co. for 38 years. He started as an industrial engineer and retired as vice president in 2003. On several occasions he has also served on the Tennessee Board of Education, the board of directors of Emory & Henry College, the board of trustees of the Barter Theater and the National Review Board.

ECU is one of the largest credit unions in the country, with $ 6.7 billion in assets. ECU is a non-profit financial services cooperative serving over 270,000 members in over 30 locations. For more information on the ECU, visit www.ecu.org or call (800) 999-2328.
